Welcome

Welcome to Troop 8 of Three Rivers Council 578, Trinity District. We are located in Dayton, Texas, and our Chartering Sponsor is Eastgate Church located at 1709 County Road 611. The Troop was founded in November 2005. Our Tuesday evening meetings are held in the Fellowship Center at the Church from 6:30 to 8:00.

In addition to our monthly outings, we attend Winter Camp each year. We usually travel for our long term summer camp each year. We have attended great Summer Camps, such as Camp Mack Morris in Camden, Tennessee in 2006, Camp Pirtle in the Piney Woods of East Texas in 2007 and 2010, Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch in Davis Mountains of West Texas in 2008, 2009, 2016, and 2021, Sid Richardson Scout Ranch in North Texas in 2017, Bear Creek Scout Reservation in the Texas Hill Country in 2018, Camp Karankawa in South Texas in 2019, Camp Pirtle in East Texas for Winter Camp 2018, Camp Constantin for Summer Camp in 2020. This past winter, in 2022, we returned to Scott Scout Ranch in Woodville, TX for Winter Camp.

"Troop 8 is great!" is not only our Troop yell, it represents the spirit and effort put behind running a quality Boy Scouts of America unit.  Our adult leaders are trained and involved with shaping our Scouts into becoming honorable young men.  Troop 8 is the only Boy Scouts of America unit in Liberty County that offers long term camping programs for both younger and older Scouts alike. Troop 8 Scouts attend Summer Camp, Winter Camp, and High Adventure bases every year.
